Hi, this is Darren Fisher, and I’m back on the vlog here talking about the power of connections.
So, as a leader, we know that our influence matters, but I think there’s something bigger.
They say it’s lonely at the top. Well, the reason why it’s lonely only at the top is because of the limited number of connections.
The more connected we are with our people, the more connected we are to other people (A) it allows us to be stronger as an individual because you can actually get energy from other people and the upliftment and positivity. But also you can pour into other people.
It’s really a two-way street.
I just read another article talking about how to live a longer life, and it adds 40 years to men and 20 years to women, and one of those key components is intimate relationships. In other words—connection.
That idea of connecting is so valuable, and we actually went through a pandemic so that you couldn’t connect, and virtual connections are not the same. It’s not that authentic, intimate connection with other people. It helps us live longer and have much more joy, do way more things, have a greater influence, and ultimately, a greater impact.
So, as a leader, what are you doing to strengthen some connections?
Are there some people around you who need to connect with?
There are some people that need to connect with you. Make sure you’re giving back to people who can’t pay you and that you’re also receiving from people who you can’t pay them back either. It’s a good way of keeping us all humble and ultimately connected to each other.
So, this is Darren Fisher, spearity.com. Again, thank you for the feedback I keep getting from these vlogs. Take care, and have a great rest of your week.
