Spurring Entrepreneurship in Milwaukee’s City Center

How do you solve a problem that has too many variables, extremely limited resources, and a limited populous that is interested in solving it? I have no idea exactly what to do, but I do know that any solution is possible if you get the right people in the room.

So, thanks to Startup Milwaukee Week and the efforts of Matt Cordio and his team, we had an amazing event called Developing Inner City Tech Entrepreneurs featuring individuals from Northwestern Mutual, i.c.stars, Discovery World, various other organizations and Archna Sahay (special consultant) who wanted to get involved and tackle this challenge.

First of all, a special thanks to SPEARity coaches for stepping up to co-facilitate.

Our goals were to establish three main objectives with plan tasks to accomplish the objectives. The group landed on the following as the main areas of focus:

  1. Resources
  2. Infrastructure
  3. Mentorship

Obviously, this is just the beginning of the process. But, we are determined to move the conversation forward and eventually solve this opportunity.

We’re in the process of continuing the process with another meeting within the next 90 days. If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact me at darren@spearity.com.
